The EU- funded project Moving from the Margins of Society (MMS) has set itself the objective to help marginalized groups such as migrants and ethnic minorities to integrate easily into society. The idea is to improve communication between migrants and public authorities as well as to break down cultural misunderstandings and prejudices. On 13th November 2015, the project's final conference took place in Berlin.

Together with the project partners from the UK, Norway, Denmark, Greece and Turkey, we first established the current state of commication between authorities and migrants in the respective countries. We then went on to develop an orientation course which helped the participants to find their way around their new city and to learn more about the city as well as the authorities within it.

After the orientation course took place, four participants were then trained as cultural ambassadors and, at the end of their training, they carried out their own workshops to authority representatives. During the training, they made the authority representatives aware of both the cultural differences and cultural misunderstandings which exist.

On the morning of the Final Conference, the actions and results of the project were presented. Following the lunch buffet, the cultural ambassadors from the partner countries hold a short workshop, which as a result of the interest from participants to our last workshop in further training. During this, the participants of the final conference discussed the project's various topics.
